The Paulerspury Players – an introduction…..

Paulerspury Players is a long established community group based in Paulerspury. It is a MembershipOrganisation dedicated to presenting various forms of live entertainment and in doing so raising fundsfor local causes. Paulerspury Players is inclusive and anyone over the age of 8 is welcome to join; there is no upper limit!

Typical events organised and presented are: village pantomimes; plays; murder mystery; mediaeval banquets; musical variety; folk and country music evenings; as well as hosting shows by visiting groups. Each event is budgeted to make a profit or at least break even.

Our productions afford members opportunities - if they so wish - to act, sing, perform music, present, and/or to support the production by carrying out one or more of the numerous tasks backstage in running an event. Our activities are only limited by our members’ ideas and energy, and being able to identify a willing producer/director.

Affiliated to the national operatic and dramatic association, Noda, we have a reliable source of know-how expertise and legal advice. We are well equipped with staging, scenery, sound equipment, and wiring infrastructure in Paulerspury Village Hall. Shows are often performed in the village hall although we have travelled as far afield as Edinburgh, Bournemouth, Witney, Northampton and Milton Keynes.

Our website

www.paulerspuryplayers.org.uk shows the range of past activities Paulerspury Players has engaged in since starting in 1988. Over £30,000 has been donated to village causes but more is needed, particularly for our churches, village hall, school and pre-school - for repairs, refurbishment, and to improve these valuable village assets.

Contact us with any questions you have. Consider joining us and bringing your ideas and energy. Help us with an old favourite or try running something new!

  • Footpath Group  ( 7 items )
When the Paulerspury Parish Action Plan was circulated, Judith and Jenny indicated that footpaths in the Parish were important to them and volunteered to help in monitoring their condition and reporting problems which might arise. As a result of this foolishness, in 2005 the Paulerspury Parish Council asked Judith and Jenny to report on the state of all footpaths within Paulerspury. During 2005 all footpaths were walked at least once, more for the challenging ones, and a report with summary sheet was presented to the Council. This resulted in the Parish Council asking Jenny and Judith to become the Parish Path Wardens whose job is to liaise with the County Council to help keep footpaths open and safe for use.

Jenny and Judith decided that building up a small group of like minded people would be the best way forward. Later that year a Parish Path Group was formed from a small band of enthusiastic volunteers. Our express aim is to try and improve the many and varied footpaths in our Parish and promote their use. We try to improve the state of the footpaths by reporting crops grown across them, broken stiles and missing finger posts. We help clear undergrowth and replace lost or damaged arrows. We also try to encourage footpath use by printing simple guides to short to medium walks with notes on local history and other interesting features. Over the coming months we will be publishing some of these routes here.
