Footpath Group
|
When the Paulerspury Parish Action Plan was circulated, Judith and Jenny indicated that footpaths in the Parish were important to them and volunteered to help in monitoring their condition and reporting problems which might arise. As a result of this foolishness, in 2005 the Paulerspury Parish Council asked Judith and Jenny to report on the state of all footpaths within Paulerspury. During 2005 all footpaths were walked at least once, more for the challenging ones, and a report with summary sheet was presented to the Council. This resulted in the Parish Council asking Jenny and Judith to become the Parish Path Wardens whose job is to liaise with the County Council to help keep footpaths open and safe for use. Jenny and Judith decided that building up a small group of like minded people would be the best way forward. Later that year a Parish Path Group was formed from a small band of enthusiastic volunteers. Our express aim is to try and improve the many and varied footpaths in our Parish and promote their use. We try to improve the state of the footpaths by reporting crops grown across them, broken stiles and missing finger posts. We help clear undergrowth and replace lost or damaged arrows. We also try to encourage footpath use by printing simple guides to short to medium walks with notes on local history and other interesting features. Over the coming months we will be publishing some of these routes here. |
